Through Thin Trees
I feel like this one is the most “Goreyesque” haunting I’ve done so far. The short, arm-like branches and the wavy tree trunks just feel like they have more character than some of my earlier attempts. That said, I found it very difficult to lay down values between the trees and build up the washy variations I was going for.

I think this is really the first one where I had to decide what happens when something solid and dark disappears behind a ghost. Do I think they are transparent or opaque? Should we see the tree trunks through this ghost? Referencing the cover of Hauntings: Tales of the Supernatural, Gorey does both:
What are the Ghost Rules, dammit?!?
I’m happy with the final product, but this is definitely one that simply landed in an interesting place and I need to be content with that.
Are ghosts opaque or transparent? To print this or not to print?
